California Property Owners Being Educated on Water Damage

Water damage to a home or business can be extremely costly. It can be anything from natural flooding, an indoor plumbing leak, or a sanitary sewer overflow. Despite the cause of the damage, the water may contain bacteria, mold, chemicals, etc. and cause damage to structures, furnishing, and any belongings in the home or business. A leading laboratory for indoor air quality testing of asbestos, mold, lead, VOCs, formaldehyde, soot, char, ash and smoke damage, particulates and other chemicals is educating homeowners and businesses about the damage water can do and the costly effects it can cause.

Even if a homeowner or business is located in a floodplain, there are steps to take to prevent damage to the inside of the property. Property owners should regularly check washing machine hoses and replace them if there are any signs of cracking or bulging. They should also inspect any exposed plumbing for signs of condensation, corrosion, and leaks. Property’s sewer lines should be inspected for any signs of failure and blockages in order to prevent a potential sewer backup. These are just a few of the precautions property owners can take to ensure minimal to zero water damage inside a property.

Homeowners and even business owners do not always know their responsibility when it comes to sewer pipes under their properties. If there’s a crack or break, this is an easy fix and can be done by using trenchless pipeline rehabilitation, also known as the Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) method. For those not aware, CIPP process is a resin-saturated felt tube made of polyester, fiberglass cloth or other materials suitable for resin impregnation and is inverted or pulled into a damaged pipe. It is usually done from the upstream access point. Little to no digging is involved in this trenchless process, making for a potentially more cost-effective and less disruptive method than traditional “dig and replace” pipe repair methods.

If you are looking for information on CIPP method or repairing sewer pipes, contact Perma-Liner™ Industries today.
